FIT Updates No Longer Allowed With Food Import Recommendation Renewals
July 29, 2026On 21 July 2026, the Myanmar FDA published a bulletin on import recommendation (“IR”) renewals for food. According to the bulletin, effective immediately, the FDA will no longer allow updates to the Food Information Table (“FIT”) when renewing an IR—IR renewals will not be approved if there are any changes in the FIT.
Thus, food import companies can only apply for an IR renewal if there are no changes in the FIT from the previous IR application. When there are changes or additions to a food product’s FIT, a new IR application must be filed instead of an IR renewal application.
We suggest that companies check their FIT contents before applying for renewal to avoid rejection and unnecessary delays.
